Just imagine it. Listen to the calm of the waves. Watch that fiery sun descend into the glittering water. Coast is located south of the waterfront of “Canada’s Prettiest Town”, in Goderich, Ontario, and does this location live up to its name! Its three connecting beaches give the public access to a newly renovated boardwalk, alongside outdoor dining and many recreational water activities! Boating, fishing, sea-doing, kayaking, swimming… you name it!
If dry land is more of your thing, perhaps you’d want to take a look at one of the many local shops in the downtown core called “The Square”. Restaurants, cafés, clothing stores, health and wellness spots, book shops… the excitement never stops! On the weekends of summertime, the streets circulating the town’s courthouse fill with farmers’ markets of fresh produce, baked goods, and boutique items!
Don’t forget to explore the local trails circulating the town, too. While you’re passing by on the Maitland Trail, make a visit to Tiger Dunlop’s tomb, founder of the rural community. Did we mention how historic this town is? From the Huron Historic Gaol, to the County Museum, to the oldest lighthouse station on the Canadian Shore of Lake Huron, there’s a story waiting to be uncovered at every corner.
The Coast community sits on traditional lands of the Chippeawas of Nawash, the Odawa, and the Saugeen Ojibway peoples. They shared their knowledge and resources with the first European travelers to this territory for survival in what was, at times, a harsh climate.
There are many different meanings behind the word community. Community is a group of people living within the same location. Community is a feeling of fellowship amongst others. Community is the sharing of common perspectives, interests, and goals. Community is a feeling of acceptance. A feeling of home. When it comes to defining the community at Coast Goderich, there’s no better way to say it; You are home.
Welcome to your home on the lakefront!
